2 Corinthians 5:21.
‘For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.’
Today, the very first step into righteousness is to accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour. When you do that, you are made righteous, you become the righteousness of God in Christ, you have a right standing with God and you are expected to walk in the righteousness wherein you are made righteous.
As you walk in righteousness, that righteousness will confer some definite things on you. If you are not walking in the righteousness that has been bestowed upon you then that righteousness is of no effect.
Romans 5:21.
‘That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.’
Romans 6:1-2.
‘What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?’
Do we say now that we are made righteous, we have to walk anyhow, live anyhow because it doesn’t really matter what we do? God forbid! How shall we that are dead to sin live any longer therein? As you walk in the righteousness you have in Christ, that righteousness will enforce some definite things upon you because you see, righteousness is power! It has a force! As the righteousness of God in Christ, some things will automatically answer to you.
Righteousness confers deliverance on you
Colossians 1:13.
‘Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:’
Righteousness confers deliverance over you. The righteousness you have in Christ delivers you from darkness, bondages, yokes and shackles. As you walk in righteousness they automatically give way without stress. Darkness, oppression, bondage cannot have the dominion over you. As you walk in righteousness, you have the dominion and you have to fight any dominion, oppression or bondage that may want to lord it over you knowing fully well that you are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus and you have the dominion.
Genesis 1:27-28.
‘So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.’
God created man to have the dominion. God gave him the dominion over all the earth. This dominion was lost in Adam but it has been regained in Christ Jesus and now that you are in Him, you have the dominion. ‘By one man’s offence death came and by one man’s obedience we receive justification.’ You have dominion over sin, sickness, poverty, failure, darkness, witches, wizards, sorcerers and many other forces.
Righteousness makes you bold
Proverbs 28:1.
‘The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.’
The righteousness you have in Christ produces boldness in you. It produces a lion-like spirit and nature in you. You are bold because you are righteous. We know what a lion stands for, he is the king of the forest, he will not turn for any, every other thing must turn away from him. The lion is a very bold and a fierce animal and that is the type of nature that righteousness will produce in you. It makes you bold and makes you stand firm irrespective of who you are, your situation or circumstance. Righteousness chases away every spirit of timidity, you will not be the one to be intimidated because you are walking in righteousness.
Righteousness makes you a lion
Genesis 49:9.
‘Judah is a lion’s whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?’
The righteousness you have in Christ makes you a lion, lioness or a whelp. ‘Judah is a lion’s whelp.’ No one, situation or circumstance can threaten the lion. To threaten the lion is to become a meat for him. Anyone that dares the lion will be torn into pieces. Your righteousness in Christ makes the devil very jittery and cautious about you.
Righteousness makes you to reign
Genesis 49:10.
‘The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.’
Righteousness makes you to reign a king! The sceptre talks of kingship. Only kings, people in authourity carry the sceptre which is the staff of office and authourity. Jesus is the Lion of the tribe of Judah and He has prevailed over the devil. The Bible says the devil as a roaring lion walks about seeking whom he will devour. The devil is a fake lion; he can roar but you can shut up his mouth in Christ Jesus. The real lion is the Lion of the tribe of Judah, He has prevailed over the devil and He has made us kings and priests, we shall reign here on earth.
Righteousness makes you a lawgiver
‘You shall decree a thing and it shall be established for you.’ Jesus said, ‘I give unto you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.’ As the righteousness of God in Christ, when you decree a thing, the heavens are backing you up.
Righteousness establishes you
Isaiah 54:14.
‘In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.’
You are only established in righteousness and not in unrighteousness, wickedness or falsehood. There are those walking in unrighteousness and they want God to establish them. It doesn’t work that way. You must abide in the righteousness you have in Christ to be established. Righteousness is a covering for you, it shields you from oppression and it protects you from terror. The Psalmist says you shall not be afraid of the terror by night or of the arrow that flies by day because you have a right standing with God. Those who gathered together against you must fall and the weapon of the enemy cannot prosper against you, they shall not be able to perform their enterprise against you in Jesus name.
Righteousness exalts you
Proverbs 14:34.
Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
Righteousness exalts and your righteousness will exalt you, keep walking in it. God says in Isaiah 62: ‘For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof goes forth as brightness and the salvation thereof as the lamp that burns. The Gentiles shall see your righteousness and all kings your glory.’
Righteousness will take you to that place of honour, dignity and majesty. It will exalt you to that height you’ve always desired and even beyond. Righteousness is an exalter, keep walking in it!
Righteousness makes you to flourish
Psalm 92:12.
‘The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.’
As a covenant child of God, you are to be envied and not pitied. That you are a Christian should not make you to be sorry for yourself. Righteousness makes you to flourish, it makes you to grow every wise. In righteousness you cannot remain on the same level, it is from glory to glory. Flourishing is a covenant right of the righteousness of God in Christ. Are you walking in righteousness? Then you shall flourish. You have no choice but to flourish. In your life you shall flourish, on your job and business you shall flourish. Spiritually, physically, materially and financially you shall flourish in Jesus name. Amen.
Righteousness confers grace, mercy and favour on you
Psalm 37:25.
‘I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.’
When Jacob was brought before Pharaoh, he asked him: ‘How old are you now?’ Jacob replied: ‘I am 130 years old and in all of my years, my experience of bad times had been few.’ Noah was a just and an upright man in his generation, he found grace in the sight of God. Righteousness makes a man to find grace in the sight of God. Righteousness confers grace, mercy and favour upon you. Because you are walking in righteousness, God will even establish a covenant relationship with you and your seed. God said, ‘I am the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob’, that is a covenant relationship.
As for David God said: ‘For David my servant sake, his seed shall not fail to seat on the throne of Judah’, because David chose to walk in righteousness. As you walk in righteousness, God cannot forsake you and He would not forsake your seed.
In summary, God loves the righteous, he is always in everlasting remembrance before God. The Bible has a lot to say about the heritage of the righteous in Christ. The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous and His ears are always open to their cry. Are you walking in righteousness? It is well with you in Jesus name!
